We found unique solutions for Cellnex when they were faced with new challenges during their 5G installation.
Cellnex Telecom is the main infrastructure operator for wireless telecommunication in Europe and the UK's largest independent telecoms infrastructure partner. Owning or controlling around 9000 active sites, and having access to hundreds of thousands of street level assets essential to outdoor Small Cells and 5G deployments in dense urban areas.
Cellnex Telecom also plays a relevant role in the deployment of safety and emergency networks for the security forces, known as PPDRs (Public Protection And Disaster Relief). This line of activity summarises both the degree of expertise of the company’s team of professionals and the ruggedness and reliability of the architecture of its networks and equipment.
Problem Faced
The introduction and installation of 5G was very different to that of 4G. While 4G deployment was in essence an equipment installation exercise for Cellnex, 5G has been very different. It has required the need for extensive infrastructure upgrades or replacements to best utilise their existing structures and resources.
In addition, the scale increase has required a considerable amount of ingenuity to arrive at feasible solutions for each site. Once onsite the complexity and duration of build activity have been up to four times greater, with each deployment being unique.
Novo's solution
To meet these new challenges, Novo partnered with Cellnex in order to efficiently schedule and install their new equipment.
The outcome
During the last two years, Cellnex UK has delivered over 1,000 5G upgrades.
